(ABC 6 News) — Democrat Duane Sauke has formally announced his run for the Minnesota House District 25B seat in 2016. Current representative, Kim Norton (DFL), attended the event in a show of support.

If elected, Sauke said he hopes to use his professional background as an educator to promote a stronger arts culture in Rochester schools.

“Most research would show that if you’re offering arts, music, performance as kids are going through their education, and that the arts exist in society apart of the school system, you’re growing your culture. Then those things actually enhance intellectual development, Sauke said.

So far, no Republican has formally announced a bid for the seat.
